GHK-Cu Copper Peptide: Research Applications Explained
GHK-Cu is a tripeptide-copper complex naturally found in human plasma. It is one of the most studied peptides for skin and connective-tissue research.
What is it?
The molecule consists of glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine bonded to a copper(II) ion. The copper is essential to its biological activity — uncomplexed GHK is much weaker.
Research applications
- Skin remodelling and collagen synthesis studies
- Hair-follicle research
- Wound-healing models
- Antioxidant pathway research
Typical research dose
1–2 mg subcutaneous, several times weekly, is the most-cited research dose.
Reconstitution
50 mg vial in 5 ml BAC water gives a 10 mg/ml mix. 0.1 ml = 1 mg.
Why is GHK-Cu blue?
The copper complex absorbs visible light and gives the solution a vivid blue. A vial that is completely clear is not GHK-Cu.
Frequently asked questions
Is the blue colour normal?
Yes — it is the copper complex. Clear solution = no copper.
Can it be applied topically?
Topical GHK-Cu formulations exist; research use is generally subcutaneous.
