HPLC Purity Results: What a Percentage Can and Cannot Show
Separation and detection
High-performance liquid chromatography separates components under specified conditions. A detector records signals as peaks. Retention time, detector settings and method validation matter when interpreting the result.
Peak area is not overall safety
A reported area percentage usually relates an integrated peak to the signals included in that analysis. It is not necessarily the mass percentage of the whole formulation, and it does not prove every impurity has been identified.
A single sharp peak cannot by itself establish identity or clean synthesis. Extra peaks can have different causes, and their interpretation requires the analytical method and supporting data.
Different tests answer different questions
HPLC does not establish sterility. Endotoxin, microbial, identity and concentration tests address separate properties. There is no universal purity percentage that proves an item is safe, clinically effective or authorised.
Read a report in context rather than interpreting 99% as a complete product-quality guarantee.

Published research and a compound name do not establish authorisation, safety or individual suitability of a separately supplied product.
